Paige VanZant issues short statement after loss at BKFC 19

Paige VanZant addressed her loss at BKFC 19 to Rachael Ostovich with a simple statement on social media late Friday night.

After reading the results and revealing that the winner of Friday’s main match was her opponent, Vanzant walked out of the ring, visibly upset with the outcome of the match.

After an uphill five-round battle against Ostowicz, the former UFC strawweight and flyweight competitor found herself on the wrong end of the judges scorecards for the second consecutive time in the bareknuckle competition.

VanZant did not attend the post-fight press conference to address the media. Instead, she gave a short video message on Instagram after the fight.

The image reads, “I will rise. I will always rise. Do not doubt it even for a moment.” VanZant offered no further explanation, making the short but simple message speak for itself.

VanZant immersed himself in the world of nude boxing earlier this year, taking on Britain’s Hart in the main event of BKFC: Knuckle Mania in February. Hart, who had come out victorious Friday night against Jenny Clausius, defeated VanZant by unanimous decision.

Now without a win in two major BKFC events, VanZant’s future is unclear. Although she was competitive in both matches, her opponents managed to defeat her with a punch and win the judges’ favor.

Coincidentally, VanZant’s last combat esports competition victory was against Ostowitz at the UFC on ESPN+1 in January 2019.

Judging by her pre-fight comments and post-fight social media post, VanZant likely hasn’t finished martial arts.
