Conservative radio host Phil Valentine has been hospitalized after contracting the coronavirus, with his family saying he regrets not getting the vaccine.
His family said in a statement that he has “COVID pneumonia” and is in the intensive care unit. Radio Online reported that he needs help breathing but is not on a ventilator.
Valentine has hosted “The Phil Valentine Show” for years on WWTN, speaking to his fans for four hours on weekdays.
Phil would like his listeners to know that while he was never ‘anti-vaccine’, he regrets that he has never been more ‘Pro-Vaccine’ and looks forward to being able to vigorously defend this position once he is once again. Another one is live and we all hope it will be soon.”
“Phil and his family would like you all to know that he loves you and values your concern, thoughts and prayers more than you will ever know. Please keep praying for his recovery and please go for a vaccination!” The statement continued.
Valentine lives in Tennessee, where vaccination numbers are relatively low, with only 39 percent of the population fully vaccinated, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
Johns Hopkins reported that more than 880,000 cases and more than 12,000 deaths have been reported in the state since the start of the pandemic.
The state is restarting nearly all outreach efforts for a vaccine for teens after there was a backlash over the idea of suspending the program.
