For the third time in two and a half weeks, a minor earthquake has been reported in northwestern Marion County. The US Geological Survey says the 2.4-magnitude earthquake was recorded 4.3 miles east of Diamond City at 6:23 p.m. Saturday. The location is 21.3 miles northeast of Harrison, 24 1/2 miles east-southeast of Branson and 26.8 miles west-northwest of Mountain Home.
The site of Saturday’s earthquake was close to where two more earthquakes occurred this month. A 2.0-magnitude earthquake was recorded 4.6 miles east of Diamond City on July 8 at 1:13 p.m. The second earthquake was recorded four miles east of Diamond City on July 17 at 7:18 p.m.
Usually, experts say, we rarely feel earthquakes of less than 3 degrees. However, humans can feel an earthquake smaller than 2.0 if the earthquake is shallow (only a few kilometers) and if they are very close to the epicenter and are not affected by surrounding factors such as noise, wind, vibrations of engines, traffic, etc. .
Anyone who felt the earthquake can tell the USGS on their website.
