Protests rocked India’s parliament for the third consecutive day over ethnic clashes in the northeastern state of Manipur.
More than 130 people have been killed and thousands injured in the northeastern state since May.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has publicly condemned an incident in May saw women from the Kuki-Zomi tribe parading naked and groping.
However, Mr Modi failed to talk about the clashes between the Meitei Hindu community that dominates politics in the valley and the Christian Kuki-Zomi tribes that live in the hills.
Demonstrations outside parliament prompted Indian Home Minister Amit Shah to break his silence on the matter. He said he was ready for a “discussion” with the opposition Congress party on the matter.
“I am asking the opposition to have a discussion on this issue. It is important for the country to know the truth on this sensitive matter,” he added.
However, both houses of parliament were forced to adjourn as the opposition demanded a statement from Mr Modi.
Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge tweeted that “it is Modi’s duty to make a comprehensive statement in Parliament on the violence in Manipur”.
Over the weekend, 15,000 people protested in Manipur over the May attack, also calling for the ouster of state Chief Minister Biren Singh.
Four men were arrested in connection with the incident involving two women.

Meanwhile, tensions between Manipur’s two communities began when the state high court, on the government’s recommendation, granted the Meitei ‘tribal’ status – giving them the same benefits and quotas as the Kuki-Zomi minority.
The Kukis argued that this would strengthen the Meitei’s power in the region, and might lead them to buy and settle on their land.
More than 60,000 people from both communities have been displaced and many are living in relief camps.
Hundreds of Hindu homes, businesses, churches and temples were also burnt.
About 10,000 army and paramilitary soldiers have been deployed across the state to restore law and order. Curfew and movement restrictions were placed in sensitive areas.
Further protests against the violence also took place in Kashmir and Kolkata.
