ISLAMABAD Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will visit Islamabad in the first week of August.
Sources aware of the incident told the Pakistani media that the Turkish Prime Minister will pay an official visit to the brotherly country next month.
Erdogan will arrive in Pakistan along with a high-level delegation including Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
In his upcoming visit, the populist leader will meet Pakistan’s top leadership, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, to discuss issues related to bilateral cooperation.
During the official visit, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will hold a separate meeting with his Pakistani counterpart Bilawal Bhutto, and it is expected that a series of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed to further boost economic and trade cooperation between the two countries in various sectors.
Islamabad and Ankara have historically had close and friendly relations dating back decades. Relations between the two countries are based on shared cultural, religious and historical affinities. Both sides maintain regular high-level diplomatic relations.
Economic relations between the two sides are developing, trade and investments between the two countries are steadily increasing, but the volume of trade has not been as significant as their political and strategic ties could potentially support.
It should be noted here that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited Turkey with world leaders during the swearing-in ceremony of President Erdogan last month. While in Ankara, the Prime Minister met with a number of world leaders and discussed opportunities for cooperation in various fields.
