What is left for the Nittany Lions in 2022?

Penn State Football’s recruitment boasts a nationally ranked category and could increase its star rating in the coming weeks

Penn State Football is currently recruiting for the 2022 class at a fast pace, with 21 commitments, nine of which will come in July alone.

Nittany Lions have met most of their needs in the class, despite which even the nation’s second-ranked class is far from complete.

Head coach James Franklin and his staff are likely looking for roles including quarterback, running back, tight head and line of defense.

With 21 things to do in class, there’s not much left in class. The standard scholarship cap for a class is 25, but there are ways to get around it by counting early enrollments in the previous class.

There are probably four to six seats left in the class, Let’s see how Penn State Football recruitment can fill the remaining holes:

Offensive line

Offensive bus coach Phil Trautwein already has three commitments in class 2022, with 4 stars Drew Shelton.

Joining Shelton is 3 star Maleek McNeil and the 3-star JUCO JB Nelson. Penn State Football also has a transition to the 2022 season with Harvard offensive bus Spencer Rolland.

With all of this in mind, Trautwein is likely looking for just one new recruitment to complete his first full recruitment category in Penn State. Two items come to mind.

The first is 4 star Aamil Wagner out of Ohio. Ohio State seems to have somehow recruited so well that the top 200 players from their own state can be excluded from the category. The second main event seems to be Kentucky and Notre Dame.

Wagner’s older brother is currently playing in Kentucky, and Notre Dame always recruits the offensive line well. This is a recruitment that Penn State Football would benefit from if it is pulled into the fall.

The most likely candidate to fill last place is a Maryland 3 star Andre Roye. Roye is a late riser who began to attract the attention of schools thanks to the strong performances of the spring at the camps. Rutgers and Maryland are also involved here, Penn State wants their chance with Roy. At 6-foot-6 and 305 pounds, Roye could become a solid offensive fight as Trautwein’s mentor.
