A cricket fan who suggested at Old Trafford hopes to find strangers sitting nearby to be the best man

A cricket fan who suggested his girlfriend at T20 International in England against Pakistan is looking for a potential best man.

Phil Jones asked the question during a match at Old Trafford Cricket Ground on July 20 – and as Sky Sports intercepted a moment – the proposal quickly became viral online.

The future groom, dressed in a retro-spirited English cricket top, asked Jill Boosie, who was wearing an English parasol, to marry her. Mirror reports.

Viewers at home saw that the broadcaster mimicked the negotiation process used in cricket and displayed the couple’s screen with a banner that read ‘waiting for a decision’ before it was replaced with the word ‘he said yes!

Speaking to The Mirror, Phil, who is self-employed, described the atmosphere of cricket as “crazy” after the proposal.

He said, “The audience mourned, they shouted at Phil and Jill for about 30 seconds.

“Throughout the game, everyone wanted a selfie and shook hands. It was crazy.”

But the best reaction of all came from the man sitting next to Jill, both completely unknown, who looked excited.

“He made this special moment even better with his reaction,” Phil recalls. “He was kind and polite. We’ve never met him before, but he was a good guy.”

The couple, both 41, liked the man from the man so much that they now hope to find him and make him the best man for their wedding.

Under the current plan, the pair will tie the knot at Old Trafford Cricket Ground, as it has become an important venue for both, even though they have not yet set an official date.
