Senior defender Kailee Skinner will act as deputy captain.
DULUTH, Minn. – Every team needs a captain to be a leader and to set a great example. This week, the UMD women’s hockey team announced who will have a “C” badge for the upcoming season.
Senior strikers Anna Klein and Kylie Hanley have been named captains for the 2021-2022 season. Klein served as vice captain last season alongside team captain Ashton Bell and led the Bulldogs in scoring. Hanley scored six points in 11 games before the season ended due to a leg injury.
“Of course, such a huge honor and only very exciting and humble to be elected. I’ve definitely learned a lot from Ashton and looked at him a lot and also watched him develop as a leader. I’ve just learned a lot from him, ”Hanley said.
“It’s one of those things where you don’t want to change who you are just because you’re called a captain. Understanding that it’s just another name. It doesn’t really mean much unless you give it too much importance. It’s more of a responsibility than some they think, so it’s not all fun and game. It’s a big responsibility, but it’s fun to give, ”Klein said.
Senior defender Kailee Skinner will act as deputy captain. A native of British Columbia has skated in 90 consecutive games for UMD.
