Southeast Finland will add a trio for 2021–22

HAMMOND, La. Three student-athletes continue their athletic and academic endeavors as members of the University of Southeast Louisiana Tennis Program for the period 2021-22, Southeast Head Coach Jason Hayes announced on Wednesday.

The most recent Lions are Sofya Kanarskaya (Moscow, Russia), Polina Paunova (Rostov-on-Don, Russia) and Ekaterina Oborina (Perm, Russia). The trio joins previous additions Boglarka Csordas (Gyor, Hungary) and Jordan Burdett (Ponchatoula, Louisiana), both of whom signed last winter with Southeastern.

“We are very excited to add Sofya, Polina and Ekaterina to our program,” Hayes commented. “All three were ranked players who have won singles and doubles championships internationally. Not only do they increase the abilities of our team, but they all come to Hammond with a positive attitude and choose to be part of a program that constantly competes in championships.

“These new additions, combined with Bog and Jordan’s previous signatures, give us an exciting recruitment class,” Hayes added. “We are fortunate that five caliber student-athletes are joining our program and we are ready to work.”

Kanarskya arrives at SLU when he is ranked up to 85^th In Russia. He twice won the championship in the Ivanovo region.

Paunova reached 50th place in the Russian national rankings and 800th in the world. She reached the doubles final in the ITF Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, while also winning the tournament doubles.

Oborina rose to 38^th In the Russian rankings. He won the doubles titles in St. Petersburg, Perm and Montenegro, while he demanded a doubles championship in Perm and Privolzhskiy.

40 LOVE CLUB / S Club

Fans interested in becoming active supporters of the tennis program are encouraged to join the 40 Love Club. Lion tennis booths are encouraged to join the exclusive S Club, which is restricted to winners of Southeast Sports Letters.
