When Texas A&M Football fans got off to a shock after hearing that their rival, Texas Longhorns, would join the SEC, the real effects of this move began to show. the only SEC football program in the state of Texas.

Instead, they’re going to be another program and, frankly, the second largest brand.

On top of that, they now have another tough game on their schedule every season against Texas. For some, this is a negative thing, although I think it’s a strong opportunity to build a strong enough resume for the College Football Playoff every season.

Texas A&M Football is harder to recruit, but it’s not as bad as you think

Currently, the Texas A&M Football Team is the only SEC program in the state of Texas. It’s probably a huge selling point for Jimbo Fisher when it comes to recruiting right now, even if it doesn’t take long. When Texas joins the SEC, the already fierce recruitment competition between the Aggies and the Longhorns will intensify further.

Here are a few top prospects for the state of Texas, from which these two teams will continue to fight during 2022.

  • 5 star CB Denver Harris
  • 5 star OT Devon Campbell
  • 5 star LB Harold Perkins
  • 5 star WR Evan Stewart

247Sports Josh Pate weighed the matter and thought it didn’t make much of a difference. Here what he said.

Why are they in trouble? And so inevitably someone says well because Texas is able to recruit the SEC. And I say and? Kids are now choosing Texas because they are in the SEC. I asked why so? Then they say well that they’ve always wanted to be in Texas, now only Texas gives them the ultimate reason with a helmet SEC sticker. I don’t think so. I’m not saying Texas recruitment isn’t getting better. It’s not going to be the crucial edge the horns have for Aggi.

I have to disagree with Pate in the sense that Texas joining the SEC should make an impact. The reason it doesn’t have a big impact on Aggies ’recruitment is that the Texas A&M Football team is currently in a much better position than Texas Longhorns.

The five-year outlook for the two programs isn’t even comparable, as Texas A&M ranks 4th and in the 9-1 season, while the Longhorns have only reached that amount twice in the last decade, with both periods having a longer schedule.

Jimbo Fisher has a unique opportunity to put on his program the best SEC team in the state of Texas when the Longhorns arrive. Not only would this prevent the additional difficulties that come with recruiting, but it would give Texas A&M a clear advantage over their state competitor.

This is a situation that can go many ways. Hopefully that will benefit Aggies.
