Jake Maikkula joined a growing tradition in the high school elite attack in Colorado.

Commit to playing football at Stanford.

It has definitely been a school that I have been really interested in for a really long time, Maikkula said. When I got there and got to campus, I knew it was a place I desperately wanted to be.

The 6-foot-5 and 265-pound Valor Christian offensive attack promised to play college football for the cardinal over the weekend. Maikkula three star view (per 247Sports) opted for scholarship offers such as those in California, CU, Duke, Nebraska, and Virginia, such as the Stanford grant offerings. Rejecting buffies was not easy.

I definitely considered playing at home, Maikkula said. CU was my first offer. I have had the longest relationship with that school. Eventually it came to Stanford because I felt it suited me.

Maikkula is the third state offensive lineman to commit to Stanford after 2019 — along with Barrett Miller (Eaglecrest) and Drake Nugent (Highlands Ranch). Miller is now the team’s left guard starting the third year of the team. Nugent on is expected to start in the center next season.

They are both great resources, ”Maikkula said.
