MA Long wins the historic fifth Olympic gold in the team table tennis final

The People’s Republic of China has been crowned men’s table tennis champion 3-0 after winning Germany. The winning team, which includes table tennis legend MA Long, FAN Zhendong and XU Xin, defeated German Patrick Franziska, Dimitrij Ovtcharov and Timo Boll to gold with a final score of 11-7, 11-3, 11-9.

This was the fourth gold medal for table tennis players in the People’s Republic of China in Tokyo and the seventh overall. The match also saw Ma beat his old double partner Boll, who goes home again without a gold medal and has now won two silver and two bronze medals in the Olympics.

Ma respected the support the team had received from the people around them.
