Sussex Cricket League Round: Rain closes the top two divisions

in Premier Division, third-placed Three Bridges against table top Preston Nomads and East Grinstead v Brighton & Hove were canceled both without a ball.

The other matches completed the first innings before the weather.

Sean Heather (59) and Mahesh Rawat (101 *) showed Middleton (257-8) in an abandoned game with Haywards Heath (88-0). Heath’s Jonny Phelps knocks an unbeaten 51 off 31 balls before rain.

Cuckfield (44-8) were grateful for the help of the rain in Eastbourne (149-8).

And goalkeeper Harry Scowen hit 66 in the abandoned game of the table’s lowest Hastings & St Leonards Priory (147-9dec) at home to Premier Division reigning champion Roffey (27-0).

Meanwhile, Chichester Priory Park (86-5) -St James’s Montefiore was the only game Division 2 to see any action.

Roffey 2nd XI vs. Bognor Regis, Horsham v Mayfield, Mid-Sussex derby between Lindfield and Burgess Hill and Preston Nomads 2nds vs. Billingshurst were terminated before the start of the game.
