20 Slam titles, over 20 years on tour and 310 weeks at the top of the rankings, just to name a few of the many amazing aspects of a Swiss maestro’s career.

Here are four of his most memorable master moments, one for every great Federer’s life for a decade.

1. Wimbledon 2008 – Epic for the Elderly

We know, we know. Federer was notoriously on the wrong end in this brilliant battle with great rival Rafael Nadal.

But honestly, it was still an absolutely amazing tennis match, widely regarded as one of the best and downright in Wimbledon history.

Claw himself back into the match 6-4, 6-4 down in two semi-finals, and eventually Federer fell 9-7 fifth to get the first Wimbledon championship for Nadal.

Even if the match ended for heartbreaking Federer because he couldn’t continue his record-breaking five Wimbledon championships, he wouldn’t have to wait long for the next one either.

2. French Open 2009 – Uranus Grand Slam

Now Federer’s astronomical standards were no longer number one in the world.

But the tide turned back in favor of the Swiss in Paris when Nadal suffered his first Roland Garros defeat to Robin Soderling to open the door for him.

After losing in all three previous finals to Nadal, Federer took full advantage of his only French Open championship so far in straight series, 6-1, 7-6, 6-4.

In this way, he filled the career Grand Slam and was responsible for Pete Sampras ’men’s record 14 Slam title. He wouldn’t have to wait long to break it…

3. Wimbledon 2009 Marathon Match

Just weeks after one of Federer’s best-known Slam championships, the throne of Wimbledon came back.

They faced Andy Roddick in the final for the third time, and they played an exceptional match when it went back to the fifth series, as in 2008 against Nadal.

Federer eventually won 16-14 to win the sixth Wimbledon championship and the 15th Slam, which overtook Sampras and created a new path for men’s tennis.

4. Australian Open 2017 – Remarkable Resurrection

After summer 2016, Federer took six months to recover from back surgery.

No one dropped the ranking to 17th in the world without an ATP championship since November 2015 and without a Slam championship after Wimbledon in 2012.

But both he and Nadal upset the field. The pair finished 17th and ninth, the pair met in the Slam final for the first time since the 2011 French Open nearly six years earlier.

The next match was not disappointing as the two went toes to each other again in five sets and Federer won 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 and got the 18th Slam title.
