Juniper and McKown Points column: Tennis news

At the JPVIS tennis show last Saturday, the team of experienced Dave Taylor and Rick Barton eventually won a professional round of leveling against college tennis players Raya and Jackia Fleming, the sons of Louin and Laura. Crisp volleyball, strong tops and long rallies provided very professional tennis for the spectators.

It wouldn’t be a JPVIS tennis show without breakfast in advance. Led by Barb Grays and Lee Corbins, the chefs squeezed waffle irons and pancake grills into continuous service. At least 60 people came to fill more than 150 pancakes and waffles topped with fresh Maine blueberries and strawberries. Thanks to all the volunteers, players and supporters.

The JPVIS tennis tournament is in full swing. Not all categories have been decided yet. So far, the women’s singles champions from eight teams are Lizzie Lewis and Renee Lewis as well as Sheila Flory and Teresa Barton. The 7 teams battled for the men’s doubles grand prize with Jack and Ray Fleming and Rick and Bill Barton finalists. The names of the tournament winners are not just on the records forever, but all the winners and runners-up will receive prizes. As one tennis player / tennis mother said: Kids and adults love the equipment and it makes the tournament much more authentic! According to other news, in July, John Gillies ’daughter Cathy visited St. Louis with her husband Brian and 16-year-old son Brodi. Cathys ‘daughter (Johns’ granddaughter) Emily came from Bristol, England, with her husband Brian and their six-month-old daughter Willow, whose family met for the first time. Johns ’son Chris, miniy Kim and their daughters Zoe and Christie were also here, and Willow welcomed him to Maine.
