Ravens’ Lamar Jackson has not committed to the vaccine since the second COVID fight: “Let’s see”

Lamar Jackson was ready for Ravens training camp when he contracted COVID for the second time in eight months.

Jackson originally landed on the COVID list in November before Baltimore’s Week 12 loss to Pittsburgh. And when he found out he had gotten the virus again just before training camp, the Ravens quarterback was “heart broken.”

“It was crazy. My heart broke. I didn’t expect it at all. Just before camp,” Jackson said. By ESPN. “Not again, not right now.”

Jackson got “pretty severe symptoms,” according to Ravens coach John Harbaugh. Jackson admitted to being “tired” and “slept a lot.” Yet he was uncommitted to vaccination against the disease.

“I think it’s a personal decision,” Jackson said of the vaccination. “I’m just going to keep my feelings for my family and myself. I’m focused on healing right now. I can’t stay in it right now … like everyone else feels. I’m just trying to get back to the right routine.”

However, Jackson admitted that he “talked to the doctors” about his decision.

“Let’s see,” Jackson said. “Talking to the doctors. Let’s see.”

But so far, Jackson is only learning more about the vaccine when he seems to be returning to game form after his second COVID fight.

“I’m taking it now, day by day,” he said. “I’m happy to be back. I’m glad I’m with my friends again.”

Jackson is one of a handful of Ravens players who have not been vaccinated. According to Harbaugh, the team started the training camp with a 90 percent vaccination. At the end of July, 85 percent of NFL players had received at least one dose of the vaccine.
