Cricket West Indies President Ricky Skerritt says the International Cricket Council, the ICC, has been dreaming of being included in the Olympics for several years.
The ICC says its “primary target” will be added to the 2028 Games in Los Angeles.
It would end the 128-year wait for the sport to be included after its only previous appearance at the 1900 Paris Games.
Skerritt, as head of the ICC, says he is happy to be part of the tender.
Cricket is largely played by Commonwealth countries, but Skerritt hopes that the appeal of the sport will increase by 2028.
