Kansas City Chiefs RG Laurent Duvernay-Tardif has been out of training camp for the last four practice sessions.
The Chiefs officially declared Duvernay-Tardif’s injury a hand injury, but never revealed how serious the injury really was. Since then, he has been seen wearing plaster in his hand. We now have an idea of the type of injury he is dealing with.
According to NFL Network Ian Rapoport, Duvernay-Tardif suffered a fracture. It is an injury that is expected to keep him out of action for 4-6 weeks. The injury keeps him out of all three of the Chiefs ’matches this season, which isn’t exactly the most encouraging news for a good doctor.
# Searchers OL Laurent Duvernay-Tardif recently broke a bone in his hand during training and is away for 4-6 weeks, sources say. A good doctor who was in 2020 @Snow The Athlete of the Year from his work on the COVID-19 pandemic front lines has the opportunity to play Week 1.

Although Rapoport claims he doesn’t need surgery and has a chance to play in Week 1, Duvernay-Tardif is listed as No. 2 real guard on the team’s first unofficial depth chart behind rookie Trey Smith. The race at the station had gone the way Smith had already before this injury. Now it is very difficult for Duvernay-Tardif to win this job.
The former Super Bowl LIV starter is no longer a starter in Kansas City. He tried to prove he could continue to play this pre-season after he refused to work on the COVID-19 pandemic front lines in 2020. It’s hard to prove that you can still play after an injury. If he returns to action in week 1, it’s probably in the depths. It is possible and even likely that he will start the season with an injured deputy director.
