When is the first college football game in 2021? Full week 0 schedule for FBS teams

It’s not the official start of the college football season, but it’s close enough: Week 0 of the 2021 season is fast approaching and bringing with it New Year’s stories.

The usual questions, as always, remain: “Who will qualify for the College Football Playoff? Who will win the Heisman Award? Who will win the national championship?” They’re still compelling stories and important: But the biggest stories of the 2021 season may well happen off the field from one of the busiest interludes in the history of the latest college football.

At first, it seemed that upgrading Playoff from four to 12 teams would be a story of the year that quickly took over with the news that Oklahoma and Texas were jumping off the ship from the Big 12 to join the SEC. This is the first act of what is likely to be the second huge round of conference reorganization that is likely to leave the college football landscape unnoticed by observers in 2021.

In addition, the NCAA has given student athletes the most office and mobility in the organization’s history. This includes a one-time transfer rule that athletes can be immediately eligible if they transfer to another school. But the bigger story is the ability of athletes to benefit from their name, image and likeness, which has already created significant pay days for college football stars.

Oh, and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Perhaps the coronavirus will have less of an impact on the 2021 season now that several teams have reported significant vaccinations, but it’s too early to say it won’t have an impact on the season at all.

When is the first college football game in 2021?

The earliest confirmed game in which FBS teams participate is in Champaign, Ill., Nebraska. It will begin on Saturday, August 28 at 1 p.m. ET. Hawaii and UCLA will then begin their respective seasons in Pasadena, California. 15.30 ET

Three other games are also scheduled to begin on August 28: UTEP in the state of New Mexico; UConn in the state of Fresno; and South Utah in the state of San Jose. The dates of the games have not yet been determined.

Between week 0 and the official start of the college football season, a total of 25 college football games will be held, but they will still be considered part of the week 1 match.

How to watch college football matches in week 0

Only two games will be televised nationwide during the unofficial opening weekend of college football: Fox flies from Nebraska to Illinois, Meanwhile ESPN broadcasts at UCLA, Hawaii. The other two games are presented CBS Sports Network: UTEP in the state of New Mexico and UConn in the state of Fresno.
