One hundred: the brave go to the top of the table, the fire goes out

For half a century, James Vince and Quinton de Kock led Southern Brave to a nice victory over the Welsh fire and topped the men’s table for a hundred.

However, the total was nowhere near challenging enough for athletes to win with eight throws and 13 balls, but De Kock acted with 57 with 32 balls while Vince set the tone with 53 with 39.

Before The Hundred began, South Brave was considered by many to be a pre-tournament favorite.

But when they lost their first two games, it seemed like they just didn’t click on their team despite the big names.

Now, however, they look like real competitors, and they seem to reach their peak in perfect time, and this victory against the extinguished Welsh fire – their Fifth Victory in a Row – shows that they have all the basics covered.

There was a consistent pair of enviable speeds from Chris Jordan and Tymal Mills, the wild rotations of Jake Lintott and Danny Briggs, and they run with their top three beaters.

With Brave’s women already in the finals, the men have now risen to the top of the table and both teams have given themselves a very good chance to go all the way.

Banton brightness too little too late for Firelle

Tom Banton has been considered one of England’s most exciting young players for a couple of years, and in the absence of Jonny Bairstow, Welsh Fire needed to step him up.

But this has been a difficult summer for the 22-year-old-fresh hitting a century in the T20 Blast, he was called to the England white ball team, did not play and had to isolate himself after some team members Covid-19-positive.

This may have disrupted the rhythm of his beat, and he has not had the effect he would have liked in a hundred.

But he joined the party against Southern Brave by hitting an entertaining 36 of 20 balls, including three six.

It was just too late for Firelle, who is certainly wondering what could have happened in this race if Banton had found his career just a few games earlier.
