Brighton boss Graham Potter claims Yves Bissouma is happy at Amex Stadium but admits he doesn’t know the player’s future.

Mali midfielder Bissouma has been repeatedly linked to a move from the south coast, but is scheduled to start a new Premier League season in Albion colors in Burnley on Saturday.

Top competitors Tottenham and Liverpool are among the clubs reported to be interested in the 24-year-old.

“I’ve been talking about Yves Bissouma for a while now and he’s still here,” Potter said before the Turf Moor trip.

“I can’t say more about it. I can’t control the future, I don’t know what’s going to happen next – it’s the beauty of life and football.

– Yves is with us, he is happy, smiles, wants to play, wants to improve his career and take steps.

“He’s our player, and while he’s still here, we’ll do our best to help him.”

Bissouma, who has two years left on his Brighton contract, has scored four goals in 96 matches since he joined the French club in Lille for £ 15 million in 2018.

Albion has no pressure to sell, as he has won about £ 50 million since White left for the Gunners, and Zambia midfielder Enock Mwepu was jailed for about £ 20 million as the only major expense of the summer.

Head coach Potter has the funds to strengthen his team, but he is not rushed to make sudden purchases and is happy to work with players already available.

Although Bissouma and White made an impression last season, another important talent, Tariq Lamptey, has not appeared since mid-December due to a hamstring problem.

The real defender is away against Clarets and can be on the sidelines for at least another month.

“He has joined the group from time to time. He is still doing his rehabilitation, a few weeks slowly, but has made good progress lately, so he has joined a few sessions with the players,” Potter said.

“We hope he makes it more efficient. A little luck, maybe after the international break we might see a little more Tariq.”
