Glamorgan v Essex: RLODC Head-to-Head

On Saturday, Essex defeated Yorkshire in 129 runs in the Chelmsford playoff. Josh Rymell made 121, Jack Plom took 3/34 and Captain Tom Westley 3/33. Essex is now traveling to Glamorgan, when the county of Wales hosted its first home final in List A cricket since 2000.

As the list below shows for their recent encounters in the Cardiff A matches, Glamorgan have won two of their last three matches against Essex in Sophia Gardens.

Glamorgan’s most recent victory from Essex at Sophia Gardens in May 2017 was a dramatic incident after Colin Ingram struck 142 realms, three of which were six massives in last place bowling by Ryan ten Doeschat. However, Essex seemed to be cruising to its goal after a century of Varun Chopra. When 68 were needed from the nine overtimes, his share with Ravi Bopara abruptly ended when Chopra drilled the ball back into Craig Meschede for his follow-up, which steered the ball into positions with Bopara, who was retreating from the ground.

Two balls later, Meschede folded Chopra as the former batsman cut to his heels. The panic then struck a crowd of visitors as Michael Hogan and Marchant de Lange returned in austerity as a finishing batch. Neither conceded the limit and Essex became more ardent, continuing to end when Wales County won in one run.

Their victory in 2015 was a much easier affair when Colin Ingram’s second handsome hundred saw Glamorgan win 146 runs. However, they succeeded on their last visit to Cardiff in April 2019 with Varun Chopra, now on loan in Middlesex, and 111 Tom Tom and Dan Lawrence also half a century before Ravi Bopara, who now plays white ball cricket Sussex Sharks claimed 3/26 that Essex won the overall victory 180 running.

The provinces have previously faced a one-day tournament in the semi-finals. Essex needs six runs, two goals in hand and 42 balls left. Waqar Younis was called off for the attack, but after one ball the referees negotiated the light and took the players off the field. Robert Croft and Essex striker Mark Ilott also had a sincere exchange of views when their claims were captured by television cameras and repeated again in the headline “News at Ten.”

It was a much overwhelmed case that highlighted raw feelings and a deep desire to win on both sides. The next morning, Waqar scored his goal properly and awarded three more innings before Darren Thomas hit his first transmission. The last man, Peter Suchin, at the gate towards Glamorgan was a favorite to win, but after he had blocked a couple of short balls and dug up a yorker, Such hit a full throw through the decks and sealed his team’s victory.
