Thierry Neuville won the first FIA World Championship season home victory at the Renties Ypres Rally in Belgium on Sunday afternoon.
Neuville led the Hyundai i20 while driving almost the entire event. He led his teammate Craig Breen in 30.7 seconds after three days and almost 300 km of racing on the narrow lanes of Flemish farms and the Spa-Francorchamps race track.
Kalle Rovanperä finished third with Toyota Yaris, 12.4 seconds back, after a tough team battle with Elfyn Evans and Sébastien Ogier. Fifth-placed Frenchman Ogier will extend the championship with four laps left.
Ott Tänak was the fastest in the Wolf Power Stage stage and got five bonus points in the i20. Ogier scored four points second and Neuville third. Rovanperä scored two points in fourth, and Evans grabbed the last point in fifth.
