Staff Roundtable: Football excitement is increasing closer to the year

This week, Maize’s Brew staff members were asked a simple question about how summer has affected their feelings about the football season.

Here are a few quick tips from a handful of our assistants.

Are you more excited about football in the summer? If so, how?

Anthony Broome: Yes I have. I’ve come to think that this could be a better football team than some fans think and think that some stock needs to be set aside for staff and cultural change. I also look forward to meeting people again in person and being on site at Michigan Stadium. Fingers crossed we can drop as normally as possible.

Kellen Voss: This summer, for the first time, I ate all five Chance U seasons. It was always a show I saved to watch this summer because I knew it would inspire me to play football. It was really inspiring to watch these players play their hearts, do multiple jobs just to get to the other team and keep playing the game they love. When all the dramatic shots lead to a fan match, the band plays and the players pump themselves, Greg Whiteley and Co. know how to get people excited about football.

Luke Ghiardi: More excited. Turns out, even though I thought and said to myself I’m not going to be too excited, my subconscious doesn’t seem to be helping itself in August and the camp is rolling around

Andrew Bailey: Yeah. I am probably the most optimistic person working for the MnB because I see 2020 as an exception and not anticipated a steady decline. Injuries, pandemic restrictions and rotten culture distorted the disaster last year. Despite this, Michigan played one point game in four quarters of three out of four losses. Players are healthy; restrictions have been removed; coaching staff reform changed culture. Michigan football should be back in shape and fans are back. How can you not get excited?

Lozonista: I’m always excited about football no matter how good or bad Michigan should be. I appreciate the annual return from college football. The break lasts so long that sometimes you forget how awesome it is until it comes back. So to say I’m excited is an understatement. Bring football!
