Cricket: India, Pakistan set for T20 World Cup on October 24 | Cricket news

The two South Asian giants last met at the 2019 World Cup in England, where India won while maintaining its unbeaten World Cup record against Pakistan.

Tough rivals India and Pakistan will face on Oct. 24 this year at the Twenty20 World Cup, the International Cricket Council says after the announcement of the matches in the delayed tournaments.

The 16-nation tournament in the UAE and Oman will begin on October 17, when Oman will host Papua New Guinea in the opening match, followed by an evening match between Scotland and Bangladesh in the first round of the competition.

The two best teams of the A and B teams of the first round advance in the so-called To the Super 12 stage, where heavyweight matches are related to the tournament.

Defending champion West India is in Group 1 along with Australia, 2010 champion England and South Africa. India and Pakistan will be joined by New Zealand and Afghanistan in Group 2.

Australia will face South Africa and holders West India will face England in Group 1 matches on October 23 at the start of Super 12, which will eventually decide the four semi-finalists.

But the focus is on the Group 2 India-Pakistan race in Dubai, where two rival countries meet only in multinational events over tensions in Kashmir, a controversial Himalayan region claimed by both nuclear-armed neighbors.

The two South Asian giants last met at the 2019 World Championships over the age of 50 in England, where India won, maintaining its unbeaten record against Pakistan in the World Cup.

The 2009 winner England will face Australia in the second key scene on 30 October in Dubai.

The tournament, hosted by the Indian Cricket Control Board (BCCI), was originally scheduled to take place in Australia in late 2020.

But it was canceled when the coronavirus pandemic spread around the world.

It was scheduled to take place in India this year, but was relocated to the UAE and Oman after a massive number of viral infections struck the people of South Asia in April and May.

The matches will be played at four locations in Dubai International Stadium, Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah Stadium and Oman Cricket Academy Ground.

The Super 12 round runs from October 23 to November 8, with the top two teams in each group advancing to the semi-finals, which will be played in Abu Dhabi on November 10 and Dubai on November 11.

The final will be held in Dubai on November 14th and the booking date will be held on November 15th.

The Indian test team will play the series in England and most of the players will return to the second half of the Indian Premier League, which is set to continue in the UAE next month after being suspended in May as COVID increased in India.

West India T20 captain Kieron Pollard said his team was excited to start defending the championship after a year-long delay in the tournament.
