Lions RB DAndre Swift Returns to Limited Exercises: Just take a moment to make sure I’m right

ALLEN PARK – DAndre Swift is back. Don’t expect to meet him much until the Detroit Lions welcomes San Francisco to the season opener at Ford Field next month.

Swift has forgotten much of the training camp with the groin problem. The injury is not believed to be serious, but it has annoyed him for weeks, and Lions interrupted the run to get him right, including being arrested away from team practice on most days for several weeks.

Head coach Dan Campbell said he expects Swift to return to practice on Tuesday, even though it only happened on Thursday, when the second-year player took part in his first practice in weeks.

It just shows me that they understand what’s going on, Swift said after the workout. I just take a moment to make sure I’m right so I can produce and be consistent when I’m here.

Swift was selected in the second round of last year’s draft and proved to be one of the best developments during the second lost year. He left much of the training camp with another injury – this hip – and opened the season behind veteran Adrian Peterson in the backfield, but worked his way into the starting role in the middle and ended the fight in the leading Detroit 878 yards away.

This staff is now gone, but a new one has built a crime that Swift is expected to be even more prominent. Lions want to run football led by new coach Dan Campbell and player Anthony Lynn, and Swift is a beginner when he’s healthy. But that hasn’t happened yet, and Lions are working slowly with him.

He is not expected to play in the Saturday night show against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and it seems unlikely that the final will also play against the Indianapolis Colts.

Yeah, that’s frustrating, Swift said. I mean, I can’t do (what I love) every day. This is my first day at work, so it just felt good to be here with the boys. It felt good to come back here.
