Flamengo confirmed Andreas Pereira’s contract with Manchester United

Flamengo has confirmed the arrival of Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira on a season-long loan.

Born in Belgium and raised in Europe, the 25-year-old midfielder returns to his father’s home country and to the international team he represents for the first time in his professional career.

It is his fourth loan spell at Old Trafford since he arrived at the club more than a decade ago from PSV Eindhoven.

Pereira came to the club’s academy at the exciting age of 17, which had sparked interest in Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal, but the meeting Sir Alex Ferguson persuaded the young man to choose United.

Over the years, Pereira has had a habit of making an impact before the start of the season and scoring absolute blinds from long-range areas. He kept this habit this summer with a wonderful striker United is season friendly with Brentford.

But Pereira has never been able to give up his miraculous position. He has always been on the edge of the team and has not used the opportunities that the United coaches who have come and gone at Old Trafford have given him.

His loan periods have also been significant. Unhindered in Granada, Pereira has failed to catch his eye and has scored just two league goals in his last two loan periods in Lazio and Valencia.

Pereira arrives at one of Brazil’s most famous and historic clubs in Flamengo and hopes to begin his promising career.

At age 25, United’s future is unlikely. The club hopes Pereira can start and increase its resale value while in Flamengo so they can resign permanently next year.

Pereira will join a number of players who have left United on loan this summer, including Tahith Chong (Birmingham City), Axel Tuanzebe (Aston Villa) and Facundo Pellistri (Deportivo Alaves).
