White Sox vs. Rays – Game summary – August 21, 2021

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.-Brandon Lowe, Manuel Margot and Joey Wendle each scored two hits and two RBIs, and the Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Chicago White Sox on Saturday 8-4.

Wander Franco also scored two hits and scored two goals when Tampa Bay won for the fifth time in six games. The peak potential has bottomed out in 23 consecutive matches.

I think it was just luck, Franco said of his first hit. It immediately gave us the feeling that we had the feeling that we were going to win. That’s when good things happen.

AL Central’s leading Chicago cut Tampa Bay’s lead 6-4 in two rounds in the eighth, but the Rays responded with two lower halves. Margot doubled home to Lowe, and Wendle had a goal.

Keuchel was charged with six runs and nine hits in five innings. The veteran left-handed dropped 1-4 in his last seven starts.

Six of the nine hits were in place today. Things didn’t turn my way, Keuchel said. It looked like we were one or two inches away from a couple of doubles that could have changed the game.

The patio allowed five hits, including Seby Zavalas in the fifth home game in the third. He hit five and walked one.

We all realized they were leading their division, and I like meeting teams like that, Patio said. It helps me focus.

McHugh, 34, retired from five of his bats in his 237th major league match. It was the 17th consecutive performance where McHugh has not given up on a well-deserved run.

White Sox: OF Luis Robert got a day off.

Rays: RHP Ryan Thompson (Inflammation of the Right Shoulder) reported shoulder stiffness on Wednesdays after a six-batch rehabilitation trip. Thompson’s last major league appearance was on June 27th.

SUSPENSION RESTORED

Right-handed veteran Chris Archer will return to Tampa Bay on Sunday after a four-month shortfall.

Apparently I had some physical ailments and those were half the battle, said Archer, whose problems started with the tightness of his right forearm. And then I had some mental ailments that were also a struggle.

Archer began his rehabilitation mission on July 12th.

My stuff feels good, and I’m ready to go out there and put it up, he said. Im not always built in 100 fields, but … I don’t focus on getting 15 outs. Focus on getting one at a time.
