The League of Legends World Championships moved from China to Europe

The year 2021 League of Legends The World Championships, arguably the world’s biggest sporting year-end tournament, have been moved from China to a currently undisclosed spot in Europe, Riot Games announced. The move will take place only weeks before the start of the race.

John Needham, Riot’s global director of exports, said in the video that travel restrictions and COVID protocols made it a challenge to host the event in China. The business was reported on the first Monday newcomer.

After considering all possible options, we concluded that moving the Worlds to Europe provided the best opportunity for most teams and their best players to compete, Needham explained. They weren’t ready to announce where Europe Worlds will be held this year, but access to most teams and their best players is a crucial factor.

This is another major League of Legends the tournament will be held in Europe this year after the Mays Mid-Season Invitational hosted by Reykjavik, Iceland. Worlds is typically a large annual show for Riot that includes past events at the opening holograms and confusing stage of reality. It is unclear whether the change in location will affect the iterations of the worlds in the coming years that are expected to occur in North America.
