Four Gators lands on the Preseason Coaches All-SEC team

Carter and Elam earned places on the first team, while Miller got second and Copeland third. The group was also named to the All-SEC team, which media members voted for in July.

Media members also received Carter’s first tribute when he played in all 12 matches in 2020 and led the Gators in sacks (5.0) and against losses (9.5). The season record in eight games and 1.5 kicks against South Carolina earned him the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week. Tampa’s ancestry set the rush for the top five quarterbacks of his career against Georgia after he lost the first half of the game.

After collecting a second tribute, Elam earned the honor of the second team’s pre-season. The junior was named an AP Preseason All-American event and the recipient of the Chuck Bednarik, Jim Thorpen and Bronko Nagurski Award Watch List. Last season, he starred in all 12 games, sending 39 tackles (28 solos), 11 assists and two abductions.

Miller repeats the second team award when he led the Florida fight with 88 after playing 11 games last season. He was selected as the SEC’s defensive player of the week after posting 15 matches, two losses and one kick, as well as Ole Miss.

Finally, Copeland is collecting recognition for the first time. He made 11 starts with a wide receiver in 2020 and recorded 23 receptions at 435 yards with three touches.

Florida will open the season at home on September 4 against Florida Atlantic at 7:30 p.m.
