Ingenious, outrageous cameo ends with Yorkshire hopes after Gary Ballance puts pressure on Sussex

Ingenious, outrageous, and a reminder that Rashid is one of the T20’s big audience pleasers: it was quite a finale. His unbeaten 27 of the nine balls included two of the six, of which Jordan Thompson almost miraculously pushed him back onto the field, the other throwing in helicopter form directly past him. When 22 were needed from two overs, Rashid tipped the balance on three consecutive boundaries against David Willey, the craziest of them throwing a full throw over the square. Chris Jordan took Matt Fisher’s rectangular leg to the end.
Rashid, who is not available in Sussex on the final day, said: “Thanks to the coaching staff for sending me early to the end of the game. I think they bowled wherever I wanted. I don’t know [where it’s going] when I hit the ball. I’m just trying to hit it hard. “
This side of Yorkshire has been their most skillful for years in T20 cricket. They were forced to play on their home field on a neutral field on Chester-le-Street in preparation for the Headingley test. Dreaming of a triple a few weeks ago, they now have an outside chance at the championship and will likely have to win all four games.
Yorkshire 177 to seven put Sussex under pressure. Sussex’s strength lies in their bowling and, as if exaggerating, that their choice seems to leave them in the dough – there were no other options than to promote Rashid No. 6. A strong start seemed necessary, but although Wright and Phil Suola offered it 72 of the 8.3 they always felt against it.
Yorkshire was jagged on the field and both openers benefited. Matthew Waite, who had a particularly clumsy night, missed Salt’s top edge in a thin leg as he ran back, in the distance when the batter was 5. Wright escaped on the 31st. gloves, Harry Duke, who barely put them on.
Lenham was the fastest and spinning the most among the Sussex trio. Wright gave him another. Lyth decided to force himself against a brutal child, jumped down on the field and got into the middle, where Jordan swung down to the right to get a catch to justify the captain’s game.
By the end of the Yorkshire innings, Lenham had exemplary numbers of 1:19 in three overtimes – more shine in his debut season – his only mistake being two consecutive foot sweeps in the third Ballance game when he couldn’t find the googly he wanted.
Ballance was Yorkshire’s redemption feature with 55 balls out of 37 balls. There’s a time when the Ballance fan club demanded that his English test be recalled, and that should be enough as an excuse. It’s unclear if he’s certainly played all season. He was ignored in a hundred, and in the 50-year-old race, there was little point in building form. But he continued to fight with solid, determined strikes against both the spin and the seam. With five crossings left, he smelled destruction against George Garton, but chose a deep midwife.
Kohler -Cadmore 55 balls out of 49 balls was not in nature for such a free throw – in the middle he had 11 balls out of 21 balls in fair play and in the absence. He was also lucky not to be caught at the gate after 1. Straight run against Garton 16. was unquestionably his first convincing offensive shot.
Consecutive six against Jordan, a full throw and a cunning top cut, gave him the slowest T20 in fifty. He dropped seven balls of head, salt in a tank after the top against Mills to keep the catch five feet from the rope. It felt like the end result – praise if Yorkshire won, and condemn if they lost. Instead, about an hour and a half later, it was largely forgotten — Rashid’s arrogance attracted all the attention.
