NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The post-Brees era has officially begun in New Orleans.
Today, Adam Schefter from ESPN reports that the New Orleans Saints have officially named Jameis Winston as the first-half player of the Week 1 regular season against the Green Bay Packers.
Schefter said Saints players and staff were spotted yesterday congratulating Winston, who was in a quarterback competition with Taysom Hill throughout the camp and preseason from the starting point.
It was believed that Winstons ’first-half performance on the 23-21 pre-season victory over Jacksonville confirmed him as a permanent starter. In that game, he threw 123 yards from nine out of ten vehicles with two bypass paintings before Hill eased him.
