Speed ​​factor in an accident that took the lives of three hockey players

SURREY, BC – According to Mounties, their preliminary study found speed was a factor in an accident that killed three teenage hockey players in Surrey, BC.

Police say in a press release that investigators have found that the car was traveling at a “significantly higher” speed than the reported limit.

The rescue department was called to the scene early Saturday when the car hit a tree.

Authorities said all three passengers died at the scene.

NHL and hockey teams, including Humboldt Broncos, presented their condolences to the families of three junior players.

The league identified players in a social media post with Caleb Reimer, Ronin Sharma and Parker Magnuson.

Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League said 16-year-old Reimer was one of many young players on the team’s rankings in their 2020-21 Central Division Championship.

Langley Rivermen of the British Columbia Hockey Association confirmed that Sharma, who was also 16 years old, died in the accident.

Delta Hockey Academy, which offers programs in Metro Vancouver that combine hockey and school, said in a statement that three of the Academy’s student athletes had died.
