Former Zimbabwean captain Andy Flower has declined an offer to coach the Pakistani cricket team. According to reports, he has informed the government of his busy schedule as one of the reasons why he is unable to start work. The Pakistani cricket board was interested in rope Flower as the head coach of the men’s team to replace the well-established Misbah-ul-Haq, who has been the side bag. This decision was made after England won Pakistan in the T20i series on July 1-2.
Flower has been involved in several T20 leagues around the world since his successful season as England head coach. He is the head coach of Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and the Saint Lucia Kings Caribbean Premier League (CPL). In the IPL, he is on the administrative staff of the Punjab Kings and works with Anil Kumble.
Apart from these teams, Flower is the head coach of the Abu Dhabi T10 League Delhi Bulls team and he was also in charge of the Trent Rockets in the just finished The Hundred.
Andy Flower has informed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that he wants to continue to participate in franchise cricket and therefore does not want to take on the Pakistan coaching role.
One of the biggest bats who have played in Zimbabwe, Andy Flower represented the Zimbabwean cricket team in 63 tests and 213 ODI matches. He did 4794 runs in tests, averaging 51.55. At ODI, he made 6,786 runs averaging over 35. He has done 16 centuries in a variety of formats.
Misbah’s relationship with the PCB has become quite strained, and the government wants to replace him with a foreign coach. However, Misbah has a mission to make until the end of the 2021 T20 World Cup.
