Stuart Binny announces his retirement from first class and international cricket

Stuart, 37, began his career in his state of Karnataka and represented India in six tests, 14 ODIs and three 2020 international competitions.

“The game of cricket runs in my blood, and I’m always going to go back to a game that has given me everything,” said Stuart, whose father Roger Binny was a member of the 1983 World Cup winning team. “I just felt like it was time for me to move from player to coaching… and I have a lot to give to cricket in this department… even now because I’m a level 2 coach at NCA, he added.

“I want to tell you that I have decided to withdraw from first class and international cricket. It has brought me immense joy and pride to have represented my country at the highest international level. “

Stuart still has the best ODI bowling in India. His figures of 4.4-2-4-6 came against Bangladesh in Dhaka in 2014. He had improved the record of his compatriot and bicycle legend Anil Kumble by throwing six throws against the West Indies in 1993 but had given 12 runs.

Stuart represented Karnataka in 95 first-class matches and, led by Mahendra Singh Dhon, he made his debut against England in July 2014, when he made 78 in his second round and it was his only fifty-six tests. In a 31-time T20 game against the West Indies in Florida, the U.S. ended his international career where he was beaten by Evin Lewis five to six times and never recovered, and was crushed by cricket fans.

He played 6 tests, 14 ODIs and 3 T20Is, making a total of 459 runs and scoring 24 goals.

Stuart is best known as a player who strikes more weight and did his best even as his famous father Roger resigned due to conflicts of interest on his selection board.
