Finland awards Switzerland the bronze of the women’s hockey world

The United States defeated the host Finns in a controversial 2-1 victory in Espoo.

Nieminen looked like an overtime golden goal, but it was abandoned for the lack of a goalkeeper, and the Americans won their fifth consecutive gold.

“We had an uptrend all the time”

One third of Finland’s team changed after there were eight new players in the team.

“I was surprised at how well we really played in the tournament,” Finnish coach Pasi Mustonen said. – We had an upward trend all the time.

“We wanted to win a medal today,” Stalder said. “I thought the effort was there. It was a tough game. In the end, we have to score more goals to win.”

Switzerland were left without top striker Aline Muller, who led the 2018 Women’s Olympics and scored seven goals and three assists. He suffered at the opening of the ankle injury tournament that ended and the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC).

In the fifth place match, ROC defeated Japan 2-0.
