Pirates vs. Cubs – Game summary – September 3, 2021

CHICAGO – After the expulsion, Chicago Cubs bench coach Andy Green wondered how he could pass his fine to manager David Ross or baseball operation leader Jed Hoyer.

Trevor Megill (1-0), Codi Heuer and Rowan Wick together made 3 1/3 unbeaten innings after Mills left. Megill got four innings from her first big league win, and Rowan Wick hit the side in her ninth second fight.

Megill had to change gloves before the start of the seventh.

I think its color was too close to white for the crew, Green said. There is some room for maneuver in the rules.

Hermosillo helped Chicago get off to a fast start with a two-story single with two sets in the second. He led in the fourth with him third home, drive left in the middle against Steven Brault.

Happ was singled out third, doubled to fifth and re-singled to seventh. The clutch striker hits .342 (25 73) in his last 20 games and raises his average to 0.208 after the start of the rough season.

Kyle Hendricks (14-6, 4.43 ERA) will face the Cubs on Saturday. Hendricks got a hard hit in his final start, winning eight runs in four 2/3 sets when the White Sox lost 13-1 last week. Pirates has not announced a starter.
