MUNCIE, India – – This is a busy working weekend for the Ball State field hockey team with three games over a four-day weekend. The first is Friday’s presentation at Lock Haven (September 3).
From there, the Cardinals will close the three-game road swing with a noon race on Sunday in St. Francis (September 5) before driving back from the state of Pennsylvania and returning to the Briner Sports Complex at 4 p.m. against Labor Day in St. Louis.
Friday’s race is the opening of Locke Haven’s season, while the Cardinals have already played two games. Bald Eagles will have to wait for Ball State’s tenacious defense as the Cardinals held the nationally ranked state of Ohio as just one goal in their season opener last Friday (August 27).
The cardinals were also aggressive in their defense at Bellarme last Sunday (August 29). Although the Cardinals dropped both races, they were a few inches away from winning both games.
Ball State and Saint Francis last met in 2018, when the Cardinals lost 4-0 in a neutral spot. But don’t be afraid of Cardinal fans, because in 2017, when BSU last played at College Station, Pa., Ball State won the red flashes 2-0.
Ball State closes a three-game week at the Briner Sports Complex, which hosts Saint Louis for Labor Day mat. Both games are played in Muncie.
