New Zealand retains the Bledisloe Cup after winning Australia 38-21

AAustralia face off against New Zealand in their second rugby championship match.

New Zealand destroyed Dave Rennie’s team on August 57-22 and they want to set a record straight in the upcoming match.

Australian half Tate McDermott has demanded that her page return from the blow she received.

He told the media this week:

“If there’s no advantage in the game in New Zealand, we’re kidding. Granting 57 points and putting ourselves in first place is pretty embarrassing.

“We’ve looked at ourselves in the mirror. We’ve looked at exactly what went wrong. The most frustrating thing was that our gifts gave them back into the game.

“We have to stop it, otherwise we can’t expect to compete with them … (Defense) wasn’t nearly good enough. When you get into this game, you’ll see a huge focus on defense.”

Three key players, Sam Whitelock, Richie Mo’unga and Aaron Smith, could give Australia a helping hand as not all blacks are involved in the match as they are left to wait for their children to be born.

New Zealand head coach Ian Foster said:

“You know well for whom they’re likely to replace them, and it’s just as much experience.

“They left the key players behind, but they’ve replaced them with three World Cup players, a gold medalist … Guys like TJ Perenara, like Beauden Barrett, if we take them lightly, we’re kidding.”
