Rahul was fined for violating the ICC Code of Conduct

Indian opener KL Rahul has been fined 15 per cent of his match fee for violating level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during Day 3 of The Fourth Test at The Oval.

Rahulin was found to have violated Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Staff, which deals with shows disagreement on the decision of the referees during an international match.

In addition to this, one weak point has been added to Rahul’s disciplinary history for which it was the first offense in 24 months.

The incident happened on Saturday, the 34th turn of India’s second turn, when Rahul showed disagreement that he was convicted behind the fairway after a DRS review.

Rahul pleaded guilty to the offense and accepted the penalty proposed by Chris Broad for the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match and ratified by the ICC Cricket Operations Division in accordance with COVID-19 Interim Rules of the Game. No formal consultation was required.

Field judges Richard Illingworth and Alex Wharf, third judge Michael Gough and fourth official Mike Burns leveled the charges.

Level 1 violations will result in a minimum penalty official notice, up to 50 percent of the players match fee, and one or two points of deterioration.

NOTES TO SUPPLIERS:

* When a player achieves four or more points of weakness in 24 months, they are converted to break points and the player is banned

** Two breakpoints means a ban on one test or two ODIs or two T20Is, whichever comes first

*** Demerit Points that remain in the player’s or player’s support staff disciplinary record for twenty-four (24) months from the date of their award, after which they will be voided
