VCT Masters Berlin Roundtable: Can anyone challenge the Sentinels? Which agent makes the biggest impact? Which group do you watch the most?

With the VCT Masters Berlin just around the corner, there are a few burning questions that desperately need to be answered.

Sentinels is the team that will be won after controlling the Icelandic competition. So who, if anyone, will sue them? Which agent will get up and make the biggest impact in the tournament? And which of the four groups makes for the most interesting viewing?

We asked our own VALORANT authors to answer these questions in preparation for Masters Three.

Can anyone sue the Sentinels?

Andreas: At least no one. Sentinels is currently the best team in the world. Although there was only one international event before the Masters Berlin, the Sentinels won the winner without even losing the map. Although they have shown (very) short signs of weakness, such as their Third Stage: Challengers One loss to XSET, it is not worth worrying about. They will rule until December until they are crowned VCT champions.

Jalen: Absolutely. The G2 is one of the best teams in Europe and will be their biggest hurdle in the group stage. F4Q is also a talented team that can be shocking. Other notable teams, such as Vision Strikers, are also present in Berlin, which means the Sentinels must be involved in Game A if they want to maintain a successful series. But I don’t see the NA juggernaut getting a throne any time soon.

Jerome: Sentinels are definitely favorites, but they’re not unbeatable. This time, the EMEA has presented a more diverse set of teams and players. Gambit, SuperMassive Blaze, Acend and G2 are more than capable of challenging Reykjavik champions. Just wait until Tyson “TenZ” Ngo encounters the explosive Mehmet Yaz “cNed” check in the playoffs.

Scott: This event is the biggest challenge for the Sentinels to date. They are a team that everyone else wants to conquer, and they have a tough competition already in the group stage. G2 is a literally top team that only gets better when they play together and F4Q quite experienced in slaughter groups considered intact. All teams from the EMEA region must be taken seriously, as must the improved Vision Strikers. Sentinels are certainly favorites, but they are not invincible.

Which agent makes the biggest impact?

Andreas: Professional players have now had a few weeks to compete under massive economic changes Repair 3.0. But we still have to see how this is going to be in an international environment. In Iceland, popular agents can be rejected, for example, in Berlin. But one agent gets a wide playing time regardless. The jett is highly mobile, can get in and out of trouble, and offers three short-term fumes for protection. Yes, his Updraft and Cloudburst prices went up and his Bladestorm now pays seven final points. But every agent had to face similar nerds. The knife-using agent played 80 percent of the Masters in Reykjavik, and his presence in Berlin should not be too far away.

Jalen: Jett was the most selected agent at each of the Challengers Playoffs at Masters Berlin. He is by far the most popular agent with an incredible talent package, making him a deadly choice in the right hands. Jett is likely to remain Berlin’s most popular agent, and the team that can use him best has a competitive edge. The great changes in the use of each area on the Jet are exciting to watch.

Jerome: While Jett is still a differentiator, other agents have stepped up their operations since the teams last met on the LAN in May. Extensive changes in the game’s economy have highlighted more weapons and reward high-risk and high-premium aggression. Expect game makers like Reyna, Raze and Skye to hold a show in Berlin.

Scott: The astra had a huge impact in Reykjavik. Use of Version1’s left Team Liquid has stopped completely. During the third phase, his use has increased tremendously, and there is viability on both sides of several maps. He is arguably the instructor who can manage the entire map most effectively. The Astra has become a favorite for some of North America’s top controllers, and his literal star power may be the key to continued NA domination.

Which group do you watch the most?

Andreas: While the Sentinels may be the most exciting team to follow, their team may not offer too many challenges. Like all fans, I want to see close games where both teams are equal, and not little by little. And I think Group A offers it. With two EMEA representatives at Acend and SuperMassive Blaze, always with such talented Vision Strikers groups and an ongoing Paper Rex team, this group should provide a lot of entertainment.

Jalen: Group A and Group D are the most exciting groups in Masters Berlin, but I will focus on Group B. Envy has finally reached the international stage. VALORANT and their work will be cut off against Brazil’s best team Vivo Keyd. KRU Esports and ZETA DIVISION are third in their respective areas, which guarantees an exciting match. I don’t think any of these teams have strong chances against winners from other groups, but moving from the group stage may be the motivation required for success.

Jerome: If you told me that one of the SuperMassive Blaze, Acend, and Vision Strikers wouldn’t survive the groups, I probably wouldn’t believe you. But that is the reality. Forget Paper Rex for a moment (sorry SEA), group A is the death group. The head-to-head between the two EMEA representatives and the top Korean team is sure to provide an exciting viewing experience.

Scott: Block A is so stacked that it features former Korean undefeated kings in Vision Strikers and two of EMEA’s hottest teams in Acend and SuperMassive Blaze. But while Bren Esports can’t attend Berlin, three Group D teams (Sentinels, G2 and F4Q) will be hosting the show in their own two-round group.
