Police have accused another man of investigating allegations of sexual abuse against Manchester City footballer Benjamin Mendy.
Louis Saha Matturie, 40, of Eccles, Greater Manchester, has been charged with four rapes, Cheshire police said.
The charges concern three complainants over the age of 16 and are alleged to have taken place between April 2021 and August 2021, police added.
Matturie, of Edwin Court, Eccles, appeared at the Chester Magistrates’ Court on Monday and was ordered to be arrested for coming to the Chester Crown Crown on Friday.
French international Mendy, 27, will also be next arrested at Chester Crown Court on Friday.
Mendy is accused of assaulting three different women, one under the age of 18, at his home on Withinlee Road in Prestbury, Cheshire.
The three alleged rapes allegedly took place in October 2020 and she is accused of sexually abusing a woman in early January this year.
She is also accused of raping a woman last month.
The Premier League champions have suspended the footballer pending the outcome of the criminal trial.
Cheshire police added: “The Cheshire Constabulary and Crown Prousecuse Service remind everyone that the criminal proceedings against Matturie and Mendy are ongoing and that they have the right to a fair trial.
“It is very important that there is no online reporting, comments or information sharing, which could in any way hamper ongoing procedures.”
