Doha will present the WTT Star competitor this month

Doha: World Table Tennis (WTT) will return to Doha with another WTT star competitor this month after it successfully performed there earlier this year at the WTT Middle East Center.

The WTT Star Contender Doha will be held at Lusail Sports Arena from September 20-25 and will be the third WTT event in Qatar in 2021.

Table tennis fans can once again look forward to a brand new table tennis show with an eight-sided court and centralized TV production and some of the world’s best players who charmed a global audience in March. In the midst of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, strict COVID-19 management measures will be continued to ensure that events are safe for all parties and that all athletes, staff, officials and the media have to undergo routine PCR testing to maintain social distance. and wear masks at all times.

Khalil Al Mohanndi, vice president of the Qatar Table Tennis Association and the International Table Tennis Association (ITTF), said:

“Doha is a good opportunity to host the WTT again, as the best Asian players are already committed to traveling to Qatar. Because of the pandemic, we need to maximize events when international travel is still so difficult. “

The WTT Star Contender events rank on the third level of the WTT series as part of a revamped event structure created by ITTT’s commercial and events subsidiary, WTT. As part of WTT’s commitment to host events in the second half of 2021, WTT Contender Budapest is set to become the first event in the WTT series in Europe when it kicks off at the Budapest Olympic Sports Hall on 15 August.
