Indian Paralympic Committee patron Avinash Rai Khanna welcomed players, javelin thrower Surendra Singh Gurjar and table tennis players Bhavana Ben Patel and Sonal Ben Patel, who won medals for India at the recent Tokyo Paralympics.
Himachal Pradesh MP Kishan Kapoor was also present at the event in Delhi, a press release said. “Thanks to the hard work of the Indian Paralympic players and the good sports policy of the central government, India has become one of the leading countries in the sport,” Khanna said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur also maintained the morale of the players, which is why they won medals in Tokyo, he added.
Khanna also thanked Unish County (Himachal Pradesh) athlete Nishad Kumari for announcing the award of 1 million rubles for winning a silver medal at the Tokyo Paralympics.
He also thanked all the states that announced the award to the Paralympics. – OC
