Nationals vs. Braves – Game summary – September 8, 2021

ATLANTA-Juan Soto crushed the striker in the seventh installment and the Washington Nationals relied on their bullfight after Sean Nolins ’first-round roll to win the 4-2 Atlanta Braves on Wednesday night.

Sotos, a 462-foot drive from Richard Rodriguez (0-1), landed about halfway through the seats to the right center and cut off 2. Luis Garcas ran the score twice for Drew Smyly for the eighth time, driving Yadiel Hernndez to lead two sets.

The Braves started the night’s 2 1/2 game ahead of second-place Philadelphia in the NL East.

Nolin was thrown out after only eight throws. He gave up one single to Jorge Soler, who had three hits before throwing the field behind Freddie Freeman.

Nolin hit Freeman in the hips with the next delivery, a possible revenge on Braves ’closer Will Smith, who will beat Soto by a point in the ninth set of Atlanta’s 8-5 victory on Tuesday night.

The judges met before Nolin was removed. When Washington manager Dave Martinez dressed in a soft cast after his left ankle procedure last Thursday, no one came out of the mine to deny the removal.

When right-handed Patrick Murphy got two sets to end the game, Freeman chatted with Soto as they walked off the field, each with his arms behind the others.

Washington led 2-0 before Atlanta got home team Adam Duvall in fourth and Eddie Rosario in sixth. Rosario lifted a low curved ball from Austin Voth to the right-hand seats on the golf swings.

Murphy, who demanded exemptions from Toronto on Aug. 14, threw 2 2/3 goalless innings. Voth (4-1) allowed one batch in 1 2/3 innings.

Josh Bells ’25th home game lead by Touki Toussaint to lead the fourth was the first hit allowed by the right. However, Toussaint struggled with control. He beat the dough with a punch and made four walks, two after Bells.

Jacob Webb loaded the bases with a two-step walk before Freeman, back in the courtyard, got a Lane Thomas pop-up in the low right field to end the turn.

Kyle Finnegan gave up the single to Soler in two innings in the ninth before getting his eighth fight from Freemans ’left field.

TRAINERS ROOM

Nationals C Keibert Ruiz (right knee fracture) made two visits when he returned to the lineup. Be the hell busy for the rest of the season. I want to get him out and let him get used to playing and let him play every day, Martinez said. … SS Jordy Mercer (left heel of the calf) began rehabilitation at Double-A Harrisburg.

Braves: OF Ronald Acua Jr. returned to Truist Park for the first time since he had undergone surgery in July to end the season to repair a torn ventral ligament on his right knee. Acua has gone through a rehabilitation program in Los Angeles. I think he’s happy to be here in Atlanta, manager Brian Snitker said.

National: RHP Erick Fedde (6-9, 5.27) is 0-3 and ERA 11.35 in three starts against Atlanta this season.

Braves: RHP Huascar Yno (4-5, 3.19) has not allowed more than 12 innings in two starts, including one win, against Washington.
