That was not the case at the opening of the Fairmont season with a 27-7 win over Marshall last Friday night. 6-4, 182-pound Jorgensen threw an incredible 223 yards and two points to complete 65 more yards and one TD spot.

“We have the difficult task of making Jorgensen uncomfortable in his pocket, but at the same time figuring out how to hold him.” said Odland. “It’s definitely a high order.”

Ironically, Fairmont’s defense created a 5-1 edge in turnover against Marshall a week ago by covering the airspace above Mahoney Field.

Speedman Hudson Artz blocked the pound before he got one of the cardinal’s secondary four abductions.

Linebacker Gavin Rodning, who also took the Jorgensen pass for the TD, turned his abduction into a pick-6, and Jorgensen and Eli Anderson took part in the mix.

Blue Earth Area head coach Randy Kuechenmeister’s Bucs earned 3rd place in the AA state rankings, Pipestone Area tied for No. 4 and Redwood Valley finished No. 6.

The Mountain Lake Area earned No. 1 in the 9-man rankings.
