No. 6 Field Hockey Bests DeSales, 4-3

EWING, NJ The TCNJ field hockey team scored two goals in the fourth quarter to break the 2-2 draw, and then arrested DeSales for a 4-3 win on Saturday afternoon at the TCNJ Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex. Kayla Cichlar scored both fourth quarter goals for Lions.

TCNJ led 2-1 after the first quarter. Sophia Foschini scored the first set 2:58 with a goal Camryn Ley 1-0. When DeSales leveled the score later in the quarter, Lions took the lead at the last minute. Rayhanah Ahmed scored a goal from the penalty area after only 28 seconds of play for Lions to lead.

Maddie Trocki scored another goal in the second period of DeSales and tied the match 2-2. That would be the final result for both teams until the fourth.

TCNJ dominated the statistics table in the fourth. Lions surpassed DeSales 6-2 and scored four penalty angles at Desales zero. It called 4:34 in the fourth when Cichlar made his first game to break the tie. He scored again less than two minutes later from the feed Sophie Popp the score now stands at 4-2.

Trocki brought DeSales to one with his third goal in the game at 11:31, but the Lions kept DeSales earning a 4-3 win.

Ley received two passes to Lions and Jess Hatch added one. Dani Britton scored five goals.

TCNJ will host Cabrin on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
