One recurring word that has been consistent on Alison Buffingtons ’field hockey trip is congratulations.
The East Pennsboro senior heard it again several times on Saturday as he reached a milestone in scoring 200 points in his high school career. And the season is not over yet.
Before playing in the Manheim Centrals tournament, Buffington sat 197 points. He scored twice in the first match against State College, and one goal was a penalty kick.
I couldn’t have done it without the support of my team, Buffington said in a phone interview.
Winning both State College and Manheim Central, the Panthers walked away as tournament winners and in Buffington, showing off their splendor.
Alisons ’gameplay is more than you expected from his modest presence on the field, East Pennsboron head coach Liz Groff said. He reads the game, sees the options, and runs over and over again, even though it’s often double and triple.
Groff described Buffington as elegant and respectable, even if he was deliberately treated as a threat.
Alison is so fast and agile that to stop him, the team crosses the line and leaves other players open, which Alison uses as a team player and team leader, Groff said. I am proud of his exemplary attitude and motivation in both field hockey and researchers.
Buffington was probably the only person who was shocked by his achievement. He has added to his resume since third grade when he had a stick in his hand. And is already committed to playing Division I at the University of Saint Josephs.
I knew I was close to coming the season, Buffington said of his 200 points. My main goal has been to win games and see how far it takes us, playing our best, it’s kind of an important part. I just think that in every exercise, in every game, give your all.
Such an attitude got him to the 200-point mark. He now has 207 points.
I definitely like to hear the sound from the back panel, and that’s what happened to the goal today, Buffington said. I saw the ball cross the line and then it hit the backboard and it was the 200th.
