Hockey falls to William Paterson

SCHENECTADY, ​​NY – The Union College field hockey team dropped their first match at home in the season 2021 by knocking 3-2 against William Paterson University on Saturday afternoon at Frank Bailey Field at the Bertagna-Class of 1985 Stadium.

Junior Emily Dawson was a big day for Union (2-2) and scored both Dutch goals. The home team jumped to a 2-0 lead early in the third quarter, but the Dutch women were unable to hold their advantage when the pioneers scored the last three goals of the match.

Union rose to the board in the first 10 minutes of Dawson’s first match and second season. Junior Eliza Munns fetched three defenders through and opened Dawson, who hit the finish line.

This goal was the only goal of the opening period as a parent Heather Poisson turned aside all four shots to keep the home team ahead.

Dawson didn’t finish and added his second match early in the third quarter. Senior Emma Davis shot from the top of the arc to Dawson, who won the goalkeeper points, his team leading the third goal of the season.
