Last month, Uvalde crossed Devine, 13-6, in a non-district high school team tennis competition.

The Uvalde players played even better in a rematch on Thursday afternoon at the Uvalde High Schools Terri Rambie tennis complex.

They got a 29-4A victory in the second district of the season when Coyotes and Lobos overtook the Devines Warhorses and the Arabs, 15-4, in a two-team match.

Our kids played better than we did last month, and I was very pleased with their play, said Terri Rambie, head coach at Uvalde High School.

We still have a lot of work to do, so we need to keep going and keep improving.

With the win, Uvalde High School is now in the 2-0 circle and 8-3 in the season.

They were supposed to play a couple of non-district doubles yesterday. The results of the matches against Laredo United and San Antonio Warren will be reported in the Thursday issue of Uvalde Leader-News.

On Thursday, Uvalde High School won six of the seven doubles.

One lost match was near and could have gone both ways.

The winners of the four games included Ty Gonzalez and Michelle Miller, Elizabeth Phillips and Hope Dube, Reagan Dodson and Allison Goggans, Victoria Reyes and Joann Reyes, Jacob Flores and Hector Lopez, and Armando Garcia and Jonathon Garcia.

Coyotes won all six of their individual matches, while Lobot won three of their six single matches.

Ty Gonzalez, Colton Gaston, Jack Brock, Jacob Flores, Hector Lopez and Jonathon Garcia won their matches.

Allison Goggans, Victoria Reyes and Joann Reyes won their matches.

Armando Garcia won an extra single match which was not included in the team’s total.

On Wednesday, Uvaldeans will return to district team tennis as they host Crystal City Javelinas in a two-team tournament at the Rambie Tennis Complex.

The game starts at 4.30pm

UHS will travel to Del Rio to take on a rematch against Del Rio Rams and Queens on Thursday before traveling to Kerrville to act against Tive and Fredericksburg on Saturday.

On September 22, UHS will face Hondo Owls in the district team tennis.

In youth college tennis on Thursday, UHS dominated the race against Devine.

The Uvaldeans won 30 of 39 matches.

Our younger college kids were playing amazing tennis, said coach Rambie.
